1. Coronado (13-1, 5-0) — District 4-5A MVP Qua Gray and the Mustangs had their best season in program history with a trip to the Class 5A Division I state quarterfinals. Gray, Blair Conwright, Miguel Garcia and Trey Stephens were named to the Class 5A all-state second team. 2. Monterey (8-5, 4-1) — After a slow start to the season, the Plainsmen won seven of their last nine games, which includes yet another trip to the Class 5A Division I regional semifinals. Monterey finished second in District 4-5A and Tydrick Ranson earned Class 5A first team all-state honors 3. Seminole (11-2, 6-0) — Although the Indians did not go as far as a season ago, Seminole still had a strong season, which included an undefeated District 2-4A Division II slate. Cade Barnard (Army) and Reese Moore (Texas) both signed to Division I schools as well. 4. Estacado (10-2, 3-0) — Estacado ended their season sooner than expected, but still experienced a District 1-4A Division I title and a double digit win season for the first time in the 21st century. JJ Walton took home first team all-state and district MVP honors, and Devin White was named a first team all-state selection. 5. Lubbock-Cooper (7-5, 2-3) — The Pirates had one of the bigger upsets in the bi-district round with a win over the District 3-5A champs in Dumas. Cooper did not as well as they hoped in District 4-5A play, but return players such as Brenden Mehl, Jarred Gibson and Cole Carter for next year. 6. Levelland (6-5, 2-1) — Despite losing their record breaking quarterback and head coach, the Lobos finished above .500 and advanced to the Class 4A area round. Chris Gerber proved to be a dangerous weapon in the backfield, and Zack Estrada once again had a big season. 7. Denver City (6-5, 2-2) — Denver City found themselves in the win column more often than the loss column in 2017 for the first time in a couple year. This includes a .500 record in District 1-4A Division II and a playoff appearance.with 8. Plainview (4-7, 3-4) — The Bulldogs found themselves in the Class 5A postseason after a win in the final week of the season. Andrew Villa and Keyshawn Horn both earned District 3-5A first team honors, with several others being named to the second team. 9. Lamesa (4-6, 1-5) — Even though the Tornadoes had a losing record, Lamesa had a successful season in which they had their best win total since the team won eight games in 2001. Jordan Derrington and Ivien Gonzales took home District 2-4A Division II first team honors. 10. Snyder (2-9, 1-3) — The Tigers improved on last season’s regular and advanced to the Class 4A bi-district game with a match-up against powerhouse Argyle. The best news Snyder heard was LeShun Burns being named to the ASPE Class 4A all-state first team.
