1. Coronado (1-0)

The Mustangs got a big win against Estacado in Week 1 with strong defense and a debut by rookie quarterback Sawyer Robertson that could not have gone much better.

2. Lubbock-Cooper (1-0)

The Pirates have a chance to become the top-ranked team in the poll if they can find a way around Coronado at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Cooper jumped on Andrews last week, but needed a heroic field goal with no time left to win.

3. Levelland (1-0)

The Lobos made a big statement with a 36-0, season-opening win at Plainview. They have a big test this week at home against Shallowater.

4. Seminole (1-0)

An almost entirely new cast got the job done against Lubbock High last week, 21-7. A hungry Idalou team visits Wigwam Field this Friday.

5. Estacado (0-1)

There’s a lot to like about the Matadors, especially on the defensive side, heading into a Thursday contest against Pampa.

6. Frenship (0-1)

The Tigers are on a 12-game losing streak dating back to the bi-district round of 2016, but they showed a lot of promise in a 49-41 loss last week to Amarillo High.

7. Monterey (0-1)

Not much went right for the Plainsmen in the season opener against Odessa High and now they have a tough game against Abilene Wylie on the road.

8. Lamesa (1-0)

Quarterback Jackson Napper and receiver Josh Marquez combined for 132 yards on six connections last week for a 47-42 win against San Angelo Lake View.

9. Lubbock High (0-1)

Shane Stephen didn’t get the win in his head coaching debut, but quarterback Noah Gutierrez is one of the area’s most productive players entering Week 2 and a very winnable game against Borger.

10. Plainview (0-1)

An injury to Andrew Villa might have been key in a shutout loss to Levelland. Defensive lineman Dshae Casias had a nice senior debut with three tackles for loss.
