2019 All-West Texas Softball Team
MVP
Ashlynn Box, SS/2B, Sr., Wall

After missing the start of the year with an ACL injury to her right knee, the 2018 All-West Texas MVP returned with a vengeance to help the Lady Hawks win the District 4-3A title and reach the second round of the playoffs. The 4-3A MVP hit two home runs in the playoffs, including her first grand slam. In 13 games, the two-time All-West Texas MVP and Angelo State University signee had 19 RBIs, 24 runs, four doubles, 18 singles and the two HRs.

Co-Coaches of the Year
Steve Bain, Wall

The Lady Hawks didn't look like a playoff contender early in the season after starting 2-12, but once Ashlynn Box returned the lineup and they were at full strength they went 10-2 to win the District 4-3A title and finished 14-16 overall. Wall lost to Brownfield in the area round, a year after reaching the regional quarterfinals.

Billy Todd, Mason

Todd guided the Cowgirls to a co-District 5-2A championship with Harper and they received a bye in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Archer in the area round to finish 15-9. Mason had the 5-2A Pitcher of the Year in Jesse Armstrong and the Offensive POY in Bridgit Herrington.

Newcomer of the Year
Saleen Jalomo, C, Fr., Winters

One of the top freshmen in the area, Jalomo put up some great stats -- .639 batting average, .671 on-base percentage, 39 RBIs, 26 singles, 11 doubles, 4 triples, 7 homers, 12 stolen bases and 33 runs scored. The 6-2A Newcomer of the Year had a .992 fielding percentage.

Co-Pitchers of the Year
Jesse Armstrong, P, Jr., Mason

A co-Pitcher of the Year in District 5-2A, Armstrong had a 9-3 record with a 2.75 ERA and 109 strikeouts. No slouch at the plate, the Cowgirls junior hit .432 with an on-base percentage of .554.

Miranda Rodriguez, P, Jr., Winters

The 6-2A Pitcher of the Year did a little bit of everything for the Blizzards. Offensively, she hit .388 with a .552 OBP, 0.51 slugging percentage, 11 RBIs, 15 singles, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 5 stolen bases and 6 runs scored. She didn't have any defensive errors. In the circle, she had 105 strikeouts in 110 innings, with a 19-9 record and 1 shutout.

Hitter of the Year
Skyler Brooks, SS, Jr., Miles

Brooks had the best batting average in the area at .790 and she was a prolific home-run hitter with 7.

The Team
Ashton McMillan, P/3B, Soph., Central

On the heels of a great freshman season, McMillan was the Lady Cats' RBI leader with 23. She was a .500 hitter with a team-high 31 hits and tied for the lead with 21 singles. She also had 3 doubles, 2 triples and 5 home runs.

Alli Talamantes, P, Fr., Central

Talamantes has a bright future and was a two-way threat for Central after hitting .279 with 15 singles, 14 RBIs, 1 double, 1 triple and 2 homers. Pitching-wise, she stepped up when injuries mounted on the Lady Cats' rotation with a 7-4 record, 46 strikeouts and a 5.162 ERA.

Taylor Martin, C/OF, Fr., Central

Martin was the District 6-3A Newcomer of the Year. She was a .364 hitter with 16 singles, 5 doubles, 3 triples and 7 RBIs. She also scored 14 runs and had an on-base percentage of .400.

Mikaila Wagner, C, Fr., Lake View

In 69 at-bats, the Maidens freshman catcher never struck out in her first season. A .507 hitter, she had 15 singles, 14 doubles, 5 triples, 1 home run, 15 RBIs and scored 23 times for the Maidens.

Hailey Guerra, SS, Sr., Lake View

After earning all-state honors at Junction, Guerra was a move-in at Lake View in the middle of the year. She had 9 singles, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 16 RBIs, 13 runs scored and hit .385.

Payton Box, C, Sr., Wall

The cousin of the two-time AWT MVP, Box was the Lady Hawks' leadoff hitter in 2019 and a solid performer behind the plate. She also played basketball and was not able to play softball until after the Lady Hawks lost in the state finals. The 4-3A Co-Defensive MVP hit .396 with 14 singles, 5 doubles, 2 triples and 6 RBIs. Her on-base percentage was .515, with a slugging percentage of .566 and an OPS of 1.081. Defensively, she threw out 46.2 percent of baserunners.

Izzy Vera, P, Jr., Wall

The Lady Hawks pitcher was brilliant in 4-3A play with a 10-2 record. She struck out 53 and had an ERA of 2.60. Her WHIP (walks plus hits per inning pitched) was 1.461.

Katie McAnelley, P, Jr., Brady

The Lady Bulldogs pitcher chalked up 165 strikeouts, including 111 in District 4-3A play. Her record was 10-12. She was also a standout offensively, hitting .426 with 15 RBIs, 13 runs, 7 stolen bases and a .667 slugging percentage.

Paige Bauer, 2B, Fr., Brady

One of the most promising freshmen in the area, Bauer was the 4-3A Newcomer of the Year. She had a fielding percentage of .860 with 41 putouts and seven errors. At the plate, she hit .528 with 12 RBIs, 17 runs, 14 stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .774.

Reaghan Gonzalez, P/OF, Soph., Ozona

The Lady Lions sophomore was the the District 4-2A Player of the Year. She hit .398 with 29 RBIs. Pitching-wise, she finished with 78 strikeouts, 41 walks and a 4.65 ERA. Gonzalez led Ozona to an 8-1 record in district and the league crown.

Mariana Garza, IF, Sr., Ozona

An excellent defender at the hot corner with less than 5 errors all season, Garza solidified the middle of the lineup for the Lady Lions. She hit .388, scored 33 runs and was one of the top base stealers in the area with 36.

Lucy Rodriguez, IF, Sr., Ozona

Rodriguez helped lock down the left side of the defense with a strong arm. She had a .366 batting average, scored 37 runs and collected 44 stolen bases.

Nivea Goodloe, 1B, Soph., Reagan County

Goodloe was a standout for the Lady Owls with a .618 batting average, 15 stolen bases, 10 doubles and 2 homers.

Baylee Stautzenberger, P, Sr., Coleman

The Lady Bluecats senior was a two-way threat. She hit .570 with 21 RBIs and chalked up 96 strikeouts and 87 putouts.

Ginny Arnold, SS, Jr., Coleman

Arnold finished with a .400 batting average, 14 RBIs and 57 putouts for the Bluecats.

Daniella Luna, P, Soph., Ballinger

The 4-3A Pitcher of the Year chalked up 100 strikeouts, including 74 in district. She didn't have any fielding errors in 4-3A play and turned 2 double plays. She also hit .395 with 15 hits, 16 RBIs, 2 homers and an on-base percentage of .438.

Lauren Jalomo, C, Sr., Ballinger

A co-Defensive Player of the Year in District 4-3A, Jalomo had 70 putouts and 1 assist in 73 attempts and turned one double play. Her fielding percentage in district was .973. At the plate, she hit .515 with 2 homers and an on-base percentage of .610.

Elyssa Korn-Flores, CF, Jr., Ballinger

The Lady Bearcats standout had an .800 fielding percentage in district. Offensively, she hit .270 with a .438 on-base percentage. She also had 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run.

Kayli Greer, 2B, Sr., Ballinger

Greer was a great hitter for Ballinger with a .567 average and a .622 on-base percentage. She finished with 12 RBIs and 17 runs scored in 4-3A play and had a fielding percentage of .771.

Dekota Morrow, OF, Jr., Sonora

Morrow was the one of the Lady Broncos' top players with a .226 average and a .407 on-base percentage. She also had 6 singles, 7 doubles, 1 homer and 19 RBIs.

Brae Harris, 1B, Jr., Sonora

Harris will be counted on heavily next season after a strong junior year. She hit .470 with an on-base percentage of .557. Harris also had 24 singles, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 18 RBIs and scored 19 runs.

Lainey Griggs, C/SS, Sr., TLCA

Griggs had a .615 batting average, 18 doubles, 1 homer, 32 runs scored and 18 walks. Defensively, she had 14 throwouts and picked off 5 runners.

McKenna Manley, SS/P, Sr., TLCA

Manley was a .548 hitter with 9 doubles, 4 triples, 2 homers, 25 RBIs, 35 runs scored and 17 walks. Defensively, she made 61 putouts, 5 double plays and chalked up 44 strikeouts.

Bridgit Herrington, C, Sr., Mason

Herrington was the District 5-2A Offensive Player of the Year. She hit .462 with an on-base percentage of .583. She hit 3 homers and had 31 RBIs.

Macy McAdams, C/OF, Sr., Junction

The Lady Eagles' leadoff hitter led the team in most offensive categories. She hit .600 with an on-base percentage of .728 and a slugging percentage of .818. She had 27 singles, 1 double, 4 triples, 1 homer, 14 RBIs, 42 runs scored and 26 walks. The senior also stole 36 bases and had a fielding percentage of .950.

Jordan Johnson, P/SS, Sr., Junction

Johnson had a great senior campaign, recording an 11-7 record with 112 strikeouts, 7 shutouts and 1 perfect game. Offensively, she hit .481 with 18 singles, 5 doubles, 3 triples and a team-high 23 RBIs. Her on-base percentage was .587. Defensively, she led Junction with 14 assists and had 25 putouts and 1 double play.

Aubrie Smith, P/SS, Fr., Forsan
