Showing its hunger for success, the Plainsmen breezed by Abilene Wylie on the strength of 344 passing yards and four scores from Coreon Bailey.

Staying put at the No. 4 spot, the Lions had a three-quarter shutout in the 43-12 win over Muleshoe. New Deal also won the yardage battle, 283-69.

5. Abernathy (2-0)

Week One rank: 7

The Antelopes combined a 286 total yards of offense from quarterback Bryson Daily with 15 tackles from Dante Flores to rout Sundown 42-9 in Week Two.

6. Jayton (2-0)

The Jaybirds followed up a shutout with a 70-38 win over Aspermont. Momentum and a home field advantage will be on their side this week when Chillicothe comes into town.

7. Borden County (2-0)

The Coyotes have outscored their opponents 116-56 after the first two games of the year. Borden County will take on Knox City in O’Brien, Texas, for a Week Three clash.

8. Coronado (0-2)

The Mustangs are still looking for a win after back-to-back losses to start the season for the first time since 2014. They’ll try to turn the tide this week against Odessa High.

9. Sundown (1-1)

After opening the season with a win, the Roughnecks ran into a strong Abernathy team and could only manage nine points. The group has a chance to get back on track against Lubbock Christian High School.

10. Levelland (1-1)

Week One rank: 8

The Lobos couldn’t hang on and fell to Shallowater during Week Two. Continuing its three-game road stretch, Levelland treks to Andrews this weekend.
